Iran aims to bring trade turnover with Azerbaijan to $1 billion
Baku/10.02.22/Turan: The current volume of trade and economic relations between Iran and Azerbaijan is not consistent with the potential of bilateral cooperation. This was stated today at a press conference by Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyyid Abbas Musavi.
According to him, last year trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $400 million having grown by 30%. At the same time, Azerbaijan's exports to Iran grew by 11%.
The Ambassador noted that this statistic does not include mutual trips of citizens of the two countries.
An intergovernmental commission meeting is expected to take place in the nearest future to discuss issues on reaching $1 bn turnover between the two countries, Musavi noted.
Also, reciprocal visits of the Presidents of the two countries are on the agenda, the diplomat stressed without specifying an approximate date for the visits; however, he added that they will take place "at an acceptable time".- 06C-
