Progress: The second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks was held faster than the first /UPDATED/

Baku/03.03.22/Turan: Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky called the agreements reached with the Ukrainian side following the results of the second round of negotiations significant progress. In particular, the parties agreed on humanitarian corridors for the population, TASS reports.

"The main issue that was resolved today is the issue of saving people, civilians who found themselves in the zone of military clashes. Therefore, the parties - representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - agreed on the format of the regime for maintaining humanitarian corridors for the exit of the civilian population, a possible temporary cessation of hostilities in the humanitarian corridor sector for the period of the exit of the civilian population. I think this is a significant progress," he told reporters.

Medinsky noted that during the talks the parties discussed three blocks of issues - military, international humanitarian and the issue of the future political settlement of the conflict. "The positions are absolutely clear, they are written down point by point. We managed to find mutual understanding on some of them," he said.

"Once again, the Russian Federation calls on civilians who find themselves in this situation, if the fighting continues, to use these humanitarian corridors, or do everything possible to stop the fighting," Medinsky concluded.

Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said at the end of the negotiations that the Ukrainian delegation did not get the results it expected and will continue the dialogue in the third round of negotiations, UNIAN reports.

"Unfortunately, we did not get the results we expected. And the only thing I can say is that we discussed the humanitarian aspect in sufficient detail, because quite a lot of cities are now surrounded, there is a dramatic situation with food, medicines, the possibility of evacuation," he said.

The third round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations is planned to be held as soon as possible.

The only thing is that the parties have reached an understanding on the joint provision of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians, as well as the delivery of medicines and food to the places of the fiercest fighting with the possibility of a temporary ceasefire for the period when the evacuation will be carried out in the sectors where it is carried out.—0---

The second round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia has started in Belarus

Baku/03.03.22/Turan: The second round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine has begun in Belarus in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.

Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said that the following issues are on the agenda:

* immediate ceasefire;

* establishment of a truce;

* creation of humanitarian corridors for the removal of civilians from destroyed or constantly shelled villages and cities.-0--
