Baku / 12.05.17 / Turan: In April, average prices of a consumer basket of 30 main types of basic food products made by Turan IA remained unchanged in Baku.
In March, there was a decrease of 1%.
Price growth was observed since July (+ 1.4%) last year and ended in February (+1.7%). The highest growth was registered in December (+4%).
The decline in prices, as mentioned in the report for March, means that Azerbaijan enters the season of entering the market for seasonal products, which is characterized by a decrease in prices with access to cheaper local agricultural products, changes in the diet in favor of plant foods. There is also a factor of low purchasing power of the population and a decline in the standard of living as a result of the crisis.
In April, rose: tomatoes (+33%), eggs (+12.5%), chicken (+ 7.5%), and potatoes (5.8%). Cucumbers (-40%) and mutton fell in price (-4.3%).
It should be expected that food prices will continue to decline in May and in the coming months. -0-
