The OSCE Minsk Group should be abolished – Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The OSCE Minsk Group and related institutions should be abolished, stated Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova at a briefing on Friday.
This is evidenced by the joint statement of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the President of France, and the representative of the European Council from October 6, 2022, in Prague.
"The Minsk Group has lost its purpose. Such a measure will contribute to the long-awaited normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia," said Zakharova.
It is worth noting that, alongside the Minsk Group, the OSCE also created the High-Level Planning Group and the post of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.
*The OSCE Minsk Group is a group of OSCE member states leading the search for peaceful solutions to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The co-chairs of the Minsk Group are Russia, the USA, and France. In addition to them, the group includes Belarus, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Finland, and Sweden, as well as Azerbaijan and Armenia. It was established in June 1992 in Minsk.
