Azerbaijan Extended Contract to Hold Formula 1 for Another Three Years
Baku / 05.02.19 / Turan: Azad Rahimov, Minister of Sports and Youth, and Formula 1 Group CEO, Chase Kerry, signed an agreement to extend the contract to hold Formula 1 competitions in Baku for another three years, until 2023 inclusive.
Recall that the contract from 2013 covered the years 2016-2020.
In 2019, the Baku Grand Prix will be held April 28-30.
C. Kerry noted that according to their research, viewers consider Baku as a special place for holding competitions.
A. Rahimov, in turn, said that everyone had witnessed the fact that Formula 1 in Baku had turned from a simple idea into a competition, which they expected with excitement and interest.
"The extension of the contract was never a controversial issue for us and we are ready to accept the competitions planned by the contract," he said.
It should be noted that during the years of the Formula 1 competition, economists constantly noted the unprofitability of organizing races for Azerbaijan, while the residents of Baku expressed dissatisfaction with the restrictions imposed in connection with the competitions. -71D-
