Media Review - January 28, 2019
A look at the holding of mass actions and the increase in the number of people going to Iran are the leading topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the holding of mass protests by the opposition, calling them an adventure of anti-national elements.
Using the example of the National Council rally on January 19 and the events related to the opposition on January 20, the author analyzes the situation, calling the rally lovers anti-Azerbaijani elements.
The article states that the number of participants in the action did not even reach 3 thousand. The author believes there is no political order for holding mass protests in the society.
The website Azadliq.info gives the thoughts of the Chairman of the Movement of Democracy and Prosperity Gubad Ibadoglu. The refusal of the authorities to sanction the opposition rally on January 26 speaks of the expectations of the authorities, who thought the opposition would not be able to gather a lot of people for its action.
Gubadoglu claims that the authorities" maneuvering capabilities have been exhausted and they no longer hide their authoritarian nature.
The newspaper Yeni Musavat writes about an increase in the number of Azerbaijanis going to Iran. In 2018, in comparison with 2017, the number of Azerbaijanis traveling abroad increased by 19.5%, amounting to 4,908.1 thousand people. The number of visitors to Iran is 33%.
The reasons for their trips to Iran are treatment, trade interests, visits to the Mashhad sanctuaries, as well as low prices in this country. -0-----
