Monitoring Center of Political Prisoners: respect the rights of spouses Yunus!
The Center for Monitoring Political Prisoners issued a statement cxalling on to hold the investigation and trial of human rights defenders Leila Yunus and gross procedural violations.
The statement of the Center received stated that even during the preliminary investigation were rejected all legitimate defense motions, and three lawyers - Alaif Hasanov, Javad Javadov and Khalid Bagirov were unjustifiably dismissed.
The lawsuit from the beginning is accompanied by gross procedural violations, limited access to meetings of civil society, the media, international organizations and diplomats. "All of this suggests the illegal intervention of high-ranking officials of the state apparatus, pressure on the investigative and judicial authorities," reads the statement.
The statement demands from the authorities to put an end to arbitrariness against spouses Yunus, observe their constitutional rights, and respect for the dignity of prisoners.

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website. Hours after the election, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov stated at a briefing that 413 out of 685 municipalities had already been formed, with 7,791 candidates identified as leaders. The arrest was first reported by Kommersant and Izvestia, citing sources, and later corroborated by law enforcement contacts through RIA Novosti and TASS.
