Initiative Group Calls to Perpetuate Memory of Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh in Baku
Baku / 17.12.19 / Turan: An initiative group represented by a number of famous figures of science, culture and science came forward with a proposal to perpetuate the memory of the founder of the Azerbaijan Republic, Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh, in Baku.
In the second most important city of Azerbaijan - Ganja, in the year of the 100th anniversary of the ADR, the Museum of the Republic was created, memorial plaques reminiscent of the importance of these buildings in the history of the country were installed on the walls of historical buildings. However, in the capital of the country - Baku, they “forgot” about the 100th anniversary of the ADR, the initiators note:

Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi - Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor,
Gulu Maharramli - Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honored Journalist;
Najiba Bagirzadeh - writer, writer, researcher of the Rasulzadeh family;
Nikat Gezalov - lawyer, head of the National Law House.
The authors believe that in the Novkhany house, where Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh was born and raised, it is necessary to place an exposition, to arrange a house-museum of the ADR founder.
In Baku, where Rasulzadeh’s political life took place, to erect memorial plaques on the buildings where the editorial board of the Azerbaijan newspaper and the headquarters of the Musavat party were located, the apartment in which Rasulzadeh lived at 59 Nizami St.
He left this apartment in 1920, saying goodbye to his family, and never returned there again. Some members of his family were shot, while others were deported to Central Asia.
The initiative group notes that in Baku there are house-museums of Nariman Narimanov, Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, Jafar Jabbarly, Samed Vurgun, and Abdullah Shaig. Monuments have been erected for Bul-Bul, Sattar Bahlulzadeh, Azim Azimzadeh and other prominent Azerbaijanis, but there is no monument or house-museum of Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh.
The initiators did not appeal to the authorities, but to the public with an appeal to demonstrate the loyalty and continuity of statehood and historical and cultural traditions. “We must prove that we are a people, a grateful nation, a conscious civil society. We look forward to your support, advice and suggestions about this initiative!” the initiators call. –0-
