Ilham Aliyev on the results of the visit to Italy
Baku / 22.02.20 / Turan:, Approximately 20 bilateral documents were signed during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Italy. A special place among them is the Joint Declaration on Strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy. This was announced at a reception in Rome by the head of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, speaking at a reception in his honor.
“This document once again confirms the support of Azerbaijan and Italy for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders of each other. The document also reflects an unambiguous position on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on these principles,” Aliyev said.
Touching upon economic cooperation, Aliyev noted the growth in mutual trade with Italy, which amounted to $ 6 billion in 2019. 17% of oil consumed in Italy comes from Azerbaijan. The two countries are closely cooperating in the implementation of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe - the Southern Gas Corridor. The last segment of this project, the TAP gas pipeline, will be commissioned soon, Aliyev said. -02D-
