State Security Service Announces Accusations Former Head of Imishli (UPDATED)

Baku 07.05.20 / Turan: The State Security Service issued an official report on the reasons for the arrest of the former head of the Executive Power of the Imishli region, William Hajiyev.

The special operation to detain Hajiyev was carried out on May 5 on the basis of data on the appropriation of state funds allocated to the Imishli district, receiving bribes, and abuse of official position.

During the searches in the office and apartment of Hajiyev, evidence was found that he had received bribes through the chief accountant of the Executive Authority, Jamil Musayev and other persons.

Judging by the video frames, 3 million dollars and half a million euros were found in the apartment of the head of the district.

The investigation also has data on the appropriation by the Hajiyevs of the salaries of people involved in community service, and his sale of state apartments to citizens.

Along with this, the investigation has information about extortion by Hajiyev from his subordinates, as well as from other state bodies and entrepreneurs.

Hajiyev was brought in as a criminal defendant, and he was arrested. –06B-

Former Head of Imishli District Arrested (UPDATED)

Baku / 07.05.20 / Turan: On May 6, the Sabail district court of Baku granted the request of the State Security Service to arrest the former head of the Imishli region, William Hajiyev. A preventive measure was taken against him in the form of arrest for four months. He is accused of abuse of authority, appropriation and bribery.

Recall that Hajiyev was detained at his workplace the day before during the special operation of the State Security Service. The head of state issued an order for his dismissal.    -0-

The arrest of the head of Imishli found indirect confirmation

Baku/06.05.20/Turan: On May 6, the country's president signed a decree on the dismissal of William Hajiyev from the post of head of the executive branch of Imishli region.

The reason is not indicated, however, a day earlier, the State Security Service conducted an operation in the district, arresting several officials. According to unofficial data, the head of the district was also arrested for corruption.  

The State Security Service has not yet commented on the outcome of the operation. -02D-
