Presentation of the book "The Last Word"
Baku/23.05.19/Turan: The presentation of the book "The Last Word" was held today at the headquarters of the Musavat party.
This is a collection of final speeches at the trials of political prisoners, compiled by the leader of the D18 movement Ruslan Izzetli.
The presentation was attended by family members of political prisoners, former political prisoners, human rights activists.
The book includes the latest speeches of political prisoners in the courts over the past 10 years and short references about them.
In total, the collection contains speeches of more than 60 political prisoners. 20 of them died in prison or shortly after being released.
The book is currently being translated into English.
Izzetli noted, the keynote of the speeches was to focus on the political nature of the cases.
Political prisoners declared falsification of criminal cases for political reasons, spoke of violation of fundamental rights and freedoms in the country, torture and inhuman treatment of them in places of detention.
According to human rights organizations, despite the release of more than 50 political prisoners in March with an order to pardon more than 50 political prisoners, the number of people convicted for political reasons is again approaching 100. -03C06-
