First Case of Corona Virus Recorded in Georgia
In Georgia, the first case of corona virus was recorded. This was announced at a special briefing by the Minister of Health and Social Protection Yekaterina Tikaradze.
According to the Minister, the virus was detected in a citizen of Georgia, a 50-year-old man who arrived from Iran through Azerbaijan. The patient is currently in the infectious diseases hospital. His condition is rated as satisfactory.
According to the Minister, the government is doing everything to prevent the start of the epidemic in Georgia.
“I want to inform you that at the border a citizen was checked by our border guards who were fully equipped accordingly. Since their health is very important for us. They carry out all our instructions. This reduces the risk of their illness, but despite this, we are now implementing control of our customs officers and they will be transferred to quarantine space.
The patient is currently placed in a separate space, and nothing threatens his health at this stage. I want to reassure our fellow citizens - we have no reason to panic, because our government is doing everything and is taking all measures to prevent the corona virus epidemic from spreading in Georgia," the Minister said.
According to the director of the Center for Disease Control, Amirka Gamkrelidze, a person who has a new type of corona virus is given appropriate treatment.
"The first case was confirmed. An laboratory test was completed an hour ago. To be completely sure, we repeated this reaction three times. We are talking about a Georgian citizen who traveled to Iran, returned to Georgia and he underwent relevant studies. As you know, after the outbreak began in China, today it has spread to other countries, including Iran, where today 19 people have died and 85 are infected," said Gamkrelidze.
