Autumn Session of PACE Opens in Strasbourg
Baku / 08.10.18 / Turan: The PACE autumn session opened in Strasbourg on October 8. During the session, the winner of the Václav Havel Prize in the field of human rights protection will be announced.
The session will include a debate on the financing of Islam in Europe, migration issues in EU countries, as well as the issue of nuclear and general security in Europe.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Tunisia and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Croatia, who heads the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, will speak.
Issues concerning Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus region as a whole are not included in the agenda. However, the delegation of Azerbaijan stated that it intends to raise the issue of the Karabakh conflict. -02D-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times. According to relatives, the police conducted a search of her apartment.

On February 5, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. According to the document, the Ministry of Energy has been allocated 1 million US dollars to purchase and send electrical equipment, manufactured in Azerbaijan, to Ukraine.
