EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger visits Baku
Baku/20.02.19/Turan: On 20 February the European Union (EU) Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger, in charge of Budget and Human Resources, paid a one-day-visit to Baku to attend the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council.
Within the frameworks of the visit, Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger signed the Joint Declaration on the South Gas Corridor and made press statements jointly with Energy Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Parviz Shahbazov with the participation of the Heads of Delegations attending the Advisory Council Meeting.
Commissioner Oettinger welcomed the signature of the Joint Declaration of the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor "as an important step for the further diversification of energy sources and routes in Europe. The partners should make best use of the new infrastructure and envisage to at least double its capacity as soon as possible."
In the margins of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Meeting, the Commissioner will have bilateral meetings with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Energy Mr. Parviz Shahbazov, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Regions Mr. Gary Jones, as well as Energy Minister of Turkey Fatih Dönmez, Energy Minister of Bulgaria Ms Temenuzhka Petkova, says a press release of the EU mission to Azerbaijan. -02D-
