Ex-Premiers Brother Arrested in Armenia
Yerevan / 09.08.18 / Turan: The National Security Service of Armenia arrested the brother of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on charges of illegal possession of weapons.
During the searches carried out on August 6 and 7, a whole arsenal was found at the mechanical repair plant owned by Abrahamyan: 3 hand-held machine guns, 7 submachine guns, 2 sniper rifles, 3 rifles, 2 pistols and a large number of cartridges. The brother of ex-premier Heinrich Abrahamyan was arrested.
As the Armenian media reported, the investigation verifies the involvement of this arsenal in the events of March 1, 2008, when 10 people were killed during the dispersal of protesters in Yerevan.
Hovik Abrahamyan was the head of the pre-election headquarters of Serzh Sargsyan in 2008. His name appeared in the reports about the formation of the armed guard of the oligarchs and its use against the demonstrators.
According to the Lragir edition, during the reign of Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, Hovik Abrahamyan became one of the key figures in the criminal-oligarchic system, claiming to become an "heir". -02D-
