Pashinyan urged to unblock the courts
Baku / 20.05.19 / Turan: On Monday afternoon, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on his supporters to unblock all the courts, which have not actually function since morning. He stated this on the air on his page on Facebook.
In the morning at the call of the prime minister, citizens blocked the entrances to all courts of the republic. Pashinyan noted that the action had reached its goal. Namely, to show that the people demand true independence of the judicial system, the Prime Minister said. In order for such independence to be achieved, the government and parliament are discussing a draft of future actions, he added.
"We had discussions, we conducted a division of labor - between the government, the parliament and other bodies. This work will definitely be done," Pashinyan added. He also apologized to all citizens whose court cases were delayed due to the action for several hours.
Pashinyan"s call came after the Yerevan court released from custody the ex-president Robert Kocharyan, accused of overthrowing the constitutional order. -02D-
