“Reporters without Borders” called on to release other journalist after Afgan Mukhtarli
Paris / 19.03.20 / Turan: “Reporters without Borders” welcomes the release of the journalist Afgan Mukhtarli, who reunited with his family in Berlin, and called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release another 5 journalists who are still imprisoned, stated the organization’s account in support of freedom of the press on Twitter.
“Kidnapped by Azerbaijani law enforcement officials in Georgia in 2017, where Mukhtarli was hiding after investigations about corruption in the Azerbaijani government, Afgan Mukhtarli was sentenced to 6 years in prison in January 2018.
The day before, he was released from the remaining sentence and sent to Germany.
The “Reporters without Borders” office in Germany and the government of this country played a key role in the liberation of Mukhtarli. -02D-

Journalist Nargiz Abaslamova, held in Baku's Detention Center No. 1, was subjected to violence by a guard. While passing by the cell of her colleague Sevinj Vagifgizi, Abaslamova tried to greet her, reported on Abzas Media's Facebook page. However, guard Aygul Babaeva forcibly dragged Abaslamova away and deeply scratched the journalist's arm. Abaslamova stated that this is not the first time the mentioned guard has used force and been rude to journalists. A few days ago, Babaeva also used force against Sevinj Vagifgizi.
