The head of the EU mission visits Ilgar Mammadov in jail N2
On August 30 the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard visited leader of REAL Ilgar Mamedov in jail N2. According to REAL, during the meeting discussed the political situation in Azerbaijan, the forthcoming parliamentary elections and the question of performance against Mamedov decision of the European Court of Human Rights. Mammadov was sentenced to seven 7 years in prison in connection with the Ismayilli events.
Strasbourg Court in 2014 found not only a violation of the rights of Mammadov's arrest, but also political motives for his prosecution. However, the Azerbaijani government tightens the execution of the decision of the ECHR in relation to Mammadov, as well as consideration of his appeal in the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has repeatedly called on the Azerbaijani authorities to execute the decision of the ECHR against Mamedov, and his release him from prison. -06D--
