Transparency International: Azerbaijan remains a corrupt country
Baku/23.01.20/Turan: Transparency International, an international non-governmental organization, has published its annual study, which analyzes the level of corruption in 180 countries around the world.
New Zealand and Denmark (87 points each) are still in the lead in 2019, followed by Finland (86 points). They are recognized as the most non-corrupt countries. Among the CIS countries, Armenia took 77th place (42 points), Georgia - 44th (56 points). Although Azerbaijan has improved its performance compared to 2018, it was in 126th place with 30 points. At the end of the ranking are Syria (13 points), South Sudan (12 points) and Somalia (9 points). -02D-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
