Wife of Deputy Chairman of Ruling Party Becomes Ombudswoman
Baku / 29.11.19 / Turan: The Milli Majlis today with 104 votes elected 39-year-old Sabina Aliyeva as the country's Ombudswoman.
To this day, she has been deputy head of the apparatus of the Constitutional Court of the country.
Alternative candidates were: deputy chairman of the Baku Court of Appeal, Kamal Abiyev, and head of the human rights and public relations department of the Supreme Court, Kamal Aliyev.
According to the law, the head of state submits three candidates for the post of Ombudsman, and the parliament chooses one of them.
Sabina Aliyeva, born in 1980, has a higher legal education. According to media reports, she is the wife of the deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, chairman of the parliamentary committee on religious structures and public associations Siyavush Novruzov.
She is also the daughter of former Vice Speaker Yashar Aliyev. Sabina Aliyeva is not known to the general public.
Recall that the previous Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova prior to her appointment had many years of experience in civil society, dealing with women's rights. –06D--
