Activist Jalil Zabidov arrested
Baku/01.02.22/Turan: Democracy-1918 Movement member arrested. Jalil Zabidov was arrested for 25 days. This is stated in a statement from the Movement.
Zabidov was detained yesterday afternoon in a cafe in the Yardimly region, where he permanently resides.
A few hours later the district court sentenced him to 25 days in custody, finding him guilty under Article 535.1 (failure to obey police) of the Code of Administrative Offences.
The Movement believes that Zabidov is being prosecuted for harsh criticism of the country's leadership in social networks. It was not possible to obtain comments from the Interior Ministry.
Note that Zabidov had repeatedly been arrested for his statements on social media.-06B-

Opposition members detained for critical social media posts were released on the same day, with no reports of mistreatment by authorities, Musavat Party deputy chairman Mustafa Hajibeyli told Turan news agency.
