All Those Detained in Connection with Action in Front of Israeli Embassy Released
All those arrested on Friday morning during a protest in front of the Israeli embassy were released in the evening.
According to the deputy chairman of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA) Akif Heydarli, 72 people, including 4 women, were detained. 68 people were released from the police station.
Four people were brought to justice, including the Acting Head of the IPA Elchin Manafov, the Deputy Chairman of the Party, Vugar Ibayev and two other activists Samir Gasimov and Bayram Babayev.
"We were issued a warning under Article 298 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violation of the order of organizing and holding meetings, rallies, demonstrations, marches and pickets) and released," Manafov told Turan.
The event was held on Al Gods Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the last Friday of Ramadan by the Islamists demanding the liberation of Jerusalem from the occupation. The initiative belongs to the spiritual leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini. -06B--
