Court Sentenced Mammad Ibrahim to 5 Months and 22 Days in Prison
Baku / 10.01.19 / Turan: The Surakhany District Court today sentenced the adviser to the Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Mammad Ibrahim, in a new criminal case.
The court found him guilty under Article 317.2 (keeping prohibited items in prison) and sentenced the oppositionist to 5 months and 22 days" imprisonment.
Previously, the prosecutor appointed him the maximum term for this article - 6 months in prison.
Mammad Ibrahim rejected the charges and called the case a political order. The defense intends to appeal the verdict.
Mammad Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 and convicted of hooliganism for 3 years. The day before the end of the term he was charged with illegal possession of a knife. On September 28, the Yasamal court arrested Ibrahim for 2 months.
Mammad Ibrahim is recognized as political prisoner by human rights organizations. -06D--
