Prospects for the development of the capital, problems in education, and the upcoming municipal elections are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan assesses the development of the capital over the past 29 years. This was stated at a meeting of the mayor of the city of Eldar Azizov with the head of state Ilham Aliyev.
Over the past 20 years, Baku has become one of the most beautiful cities in the world with new architectural projects: skyscrapers, restored historic buildings, roads, parks and alleys.
The author also notes that the most serious environmental problems of the capital were eliminated after the demolition of the Balakhany dump. A modern garbage collection system has been created using solid waste management technologies and improving the environment.
Another source of environmental protection was the cleaning of oil-contaminated land in Bibiheybat, where a new park was established, a sports town, a swimming pool and other public facilities were built.
The website Lent.az discusses with an expert Kamran Asadov the question of combining institutions in the field of education management. By the decision of Prime Minister Ali Asadov, the Institute for Advanced Training of Education Workers, the Center for the Work with Gifted Children and the Republican Scientific-Pedagogical Library were merged into the Institute of Education.
These institutions are remembered when they offer meaningless trainings for teachers. At the same time, they do not take serious steps to improve the professionalism of teachers, do not conduct theoretical research, there are no practical steps to carry out fundamental and applied developments in the field of IT and the introduction of educational innovations.
The website redaktor.az focuses on the topic of the upcoming municipal elections on December 23 and weak interest in them.
Municipalities have a weak financial base, and their dependence on executive bodies significantly affects their effectiveness. Many residents of the country do not even know about the municipal elections, while in Azerbaijan they closely follow the similar elections in Turkey. -0-
