Parents of pupils of Istek lyceums are ready to take over the management of educational institutions
Baku / 09.08.18 / Turan: Parents of pupils of the network of lyceums "Istek" denied reports of representatives of the Ministry of Education that in connection with the liquidation of these educational institutions, students there apply for transfer to other schools. On 5 July the founder of the network of lyceums "Istek" appealed to the Ministry of Education about the liquidation of these educational institutions. This decision caused discontent of the parents of students.
A member of the parent committee, Mehriban Aliyeva, denied the statements of the Ministry of Education that parents take documents from the "Istek" Lyceum and apply for transferring them to other schools. According to her, at the present time, on the initiative of the parents, a legal entity is being set up to transfer lyceums to the management of this structure.
A parent committee of 10 people is authorized to discuss these issues with state bodies. The Committee represents the interests of more than 2 thousand students and defends the interests of 600 teachers of 12 lyceums of this network.
Aliyeva noted, three meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Education and the presidential administration. At the second meeting with the Head of the Humanitarian Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, Farah Aliyeva, the members of the parent committee suggested setting up their own structure for managing lyceums, taking into account the experience of foreign countries.
Detailed discussion of the issue was decided to continue with the leadership of the Ministry of Education.
Members of the parent committee went to this meeting already with the ready-made documents.
The meeting was held with First Deputy Minister Mahabbat Veliyeva and other senior officials. Parents were promised to organize a meeting with the Minister himself, Jeyhun Bayramov, after his return from vacation on Monday. "However, it is Thursday, and there is no information from the ministry on the meeting there," said M. Aliyeva.
According to her, parents insist on maintaining a network of lyceums with the same pedagogical staff.
"Just these teachers provide high results for students. 90% of the medals at the Olympiad are won by pupils of the lyceums "expired". These lyceums have a special educational program. We consider it impossible to transfer them to other schools," M.Aliyeva said. She noted that only a few parents took the documents from the lyceums. "We believe that the country's leadership will intervene and the lyceums will continue their work," M.Aliyeva said.
On August 8, the press service of the Ministry of Education reported that since July 9, the process of accepting applications of pupils from "Istek" lyceums for transferring them to other educational institutions began, and parents have already applied to the relevant district departments of education. -06B--
