Police Detain Candidates for Deputies
Baku / 11.02.20 / Turan: On February 11, a group of candidates for deputies in the 33rd Khatai First District gathered in front of the district election commission, protesting against election fraud.
Candidates for deputies: Zalimkhan Mammadli, Ruslan Izzatli, Ahad Mammadli and Nushaba Sadigly read out their appeal to reporters. However, police officers prevented them, urging candidates "not to disturb public order", and required to disperse.
In response, Izzatli said the candidates have immunity and began to read out a statement.
Police detained him and Ahad Mammadli, and pushed other candidates away from the building. -16D-

Opposition members detained for critical social media posts were released on the same day, with no reports of mistreatment by authorities, Musavat Party deputy chairman Mustafa Hajibeyli told Turan news agency.
