Population of Azerbaijan Increased by Almost One Percent in 2017
Baku / 15.02.18 / Turan: The population of Azerbaijan in 2017 increased by 88,104 people, or 0.9%, and as of January 1 it was 9,898,085 people. This is stated in the message of the State Statistics Committee.
52. 9% of the population lives in cities, and 47.1% live in villages. 49.9% of the population is men, and 50.1% are women.
The local departments of the Ministry of Justice registered 144,041 newborns. This figure was 14.8 per 1,000 people. On average, 395 children per day were born on average. 2,586 newborns were twins, and 57 - triplets.
The proportion of girls among newborns was 46.8%. For every 100 girls there were 114 boys (the biological norm is 105-107).
Violation of the sex balance among newborns has affected the sexual structure of the population: for every 1,000 women there are 1,004 men.
