Press Review - February 16, 2018
Economic development, expectations from the new tax policy, and population decrease are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the operational strategy of reforms providing stable and long-term development. The author writes about the development of the economy over the past 15 years, about a new page in the history of the country. The head of state does not separate such concepts as the wide application of democratic innovations and balanced economic development. Over the past 15 years, the economy has increased by more than 3 times, and GDP has grown by 3.2 times.
The newspaper Echo published an article titled New Tax Policy in Azerbaijan: Who Will Be Under the Impact. The Ministry of Taxes is tasked to increase tax revenues to the state budget. Therefore, the Ministry of Taxes will work hard in this direction.
At the same time, new tax decisions should not be allowed to affect the agricultural sector, as farmers will not withstand the tax burden. If farmers are exposed to a tax burden, then this may end badly for both small and medium-sized enterprises and the state.
Experts believe that Azerbaijan needs a "luxury tax". If the government wants to increase tax revenues, then it is necessary to take more from the rich. There are very rich people in the country, so why not pay a luxury tax, as they do abroad.
The website Azadliqinfo.az writes about the difficult social and economic situation in the country and its consequences. If you believe in official propaganda, the people simply "bathe" in abundance and well-being. Further, the author gives statistics on the rate of population growth. If so, how can you say about the opening of new jobs. -0--
