According to local sources, the wind blew more than 20 large trees on the Alat-Astara highway in the territory of Jalilabad, blocking the movement of cars.
In Jalilabad itself, from a lightning strike, a local resident, Azer Gurbanov, who was working on his plot of land, was killed.
In the Lerik district, thunderstorms caused a breakdown in the supply of electricity. Thus, a lightning strike caused a fire at a local substation.

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website.
