State of Ogtay Gyulalyev’s Health Remains Critical
Baku / 07.11.19 / Turan: The state of health of the human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev remains difficult and critical. He is still in a coma, the activist’s spouse Firuza Gulalyeva told Turan.
“Transporting Ogtay yesterday by special flight to Turkey did not have any negative impact on his health. But, Ogtay’s health remains as bad as it was in Azerbaijan, and he is still in a coma. The doctors do their best. Yesterday, the doctors performed an operation to place an artificial airway into the trachea. The doctors are working hard, but they can’t promise anything definite so far regarding Ogtay’s recovery and saving his life. He still remains in serious and critical condition,” F. Gyulalyeva said.
O. Gyulalyev was sent to Turkey on November 6 by a special flight of the AZAL company and was placed in the Avrasiya clinic. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation took all the expenses associated with Gyulalyev’s treatment on behalf of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva.
The well-known human rights activist was hit by a car in the center of Baku on October 29. From the blow, he received a head injury that resulted in cerebral hemorrhage. A few hours later, the activist fell into a coma. On October 30, a neurosurgical operation was performed on him in Baku.
Turkish specialists who arrived on November 5 at the invitation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to examine Gyulalyev recommended that he be taken to Turkey for treatment. -03B06-
