Ali Ahmedov Calls on NAP for Solidarity against Opposition
Baku / 08/05/19 / Turan: Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, deputy chairman of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Ali Ahmedov made an unexpected statement, calling the opposition a "damned fifth column," and urged party members to "close unity".
In particular, he accused the opposition of slandering Azerbaijan "by order of foreign forces."
"The goal is to prevent the country's sustainable development, reduce the positive effect of projects to improve the well-being of people, and cast a shadow on the image of Azerbaijan," Ahmedov writes on his Facebook page.
For this reason, Ahmedov notes the need to rally the ranks of the party in order to protect and preserve the country's successes, to clear the political scene of "dirty and dangerous methods", and to curb the "anti-national front" called "opposition".
Ahmedov called on all active party members and youth for selfless action.
However, Ahmedov did not indicate specific reasons and facts that gave rise to this appeal. He also did not cite any examples of "slander" by the opposition.
It is possible that his publication is an expression of anxiety in the ruling elite in connection with the intensification of anti-government protests in Russia and the prospect of their spread to Azerbaijan. -21C-
