Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory message to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian on the occasion of that country's national holiday -- Victory Day of the Islamic Revolution.

‘We attach special importance to the comprehensive development of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Iran. The relations between our countries are rooted on the common historical, religious and cultural values of our peoples, which are closely linked to each other,’ the message reads.

At present, Aliyev further noted, Azerbaijan and Iran are effectively cooperating in trade and economic, transport, energy and other spheres. ‘There are favourable opportunities to further expand the sphere of our interaction and enrich it with new content,’ the Azerbaijani President stressed.

He expressed confidence that ‘Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and cooperation will further develop and strengthen on the basis of the principles of friendship, brotherhood and good neighbourliness for the prosperity of the peoples of the two countries, stability and security of the region’.
