Azerbaijani delegation is leaving for the PACE session
Baku / 07.10.17 / Turan: The delegation of the Milli Majlis is leaving for Strasbourg on October 8 to attend the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Delegations under the leadership of Samad Seyidov also include Rafael Huseynov, Vusal Huseynov, Sevinj Fatalieva, Ganira Pashayeva, Sabir Hajiyev, Rovshan Rzayev, and Sahiba Gafarova, reported the press service of the Milli Majlis.
The agenda of the session, which will be held on October 9-13, includes two issues concerning Azerbaijan. On October 11, the report will be considered: "The functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan", written by the co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee Stefan Schennac and Cesar Florin Preda.
On the same day, another report will be heard: "Steps taken in Azerbaijan in the field of respect for human rights during the country's chairmanship of the Council of Europe (May-November 2014). This report was prepared by the Belgian deputy Allen Desteks.
However, in September, after the publication of the investigation of the "Azerbaijani Laundromat", which was about lobbying in PACE in favor of official Baku, Destek resigned as him name was mentioned in the investigation. --06D-

On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadigova, stated that this was the final judicial instance in Georgia making a decision on the case, Turan reported. On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
