Baku / 10.10.19 / Turan: On October 9, President Ilham Aliyev received the Russian delegation led by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov.
The deputies arrived in Baku to participate in the anniversary of the Russian Book House, the official statement said.
Welcoming the guests, Aliyev noted that the visit was taking place on the eve of the upcoming CIS summit. In turn, Leonid Kalashnikov emphasized that the recent visit of President Aliyev to Russia had a very big effect.
"Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin invited me during our meeting in Beijing in April. Then we had very constructive negotiations and now we are summing up the results in Sochi. Everything we are agreeing on is being implemented. Of course, the meeting with the President was very substantial and very warm. I am very happy about this," Ilham Aliyev said.
In turn, Kalashnikov noted that concern at the state level about the Russian language in Azerbaijan is exemplary. He was pleased to emphasize that in more than 350 secondary schools in Azerbaijan teaching is conducted in Russian and there are Russian departments in higher education institutions.
Regarding the development of inter-parliamentary relations, the guest praised the support provided by the Azerbaijani delegation in restoring Russia's membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for the development of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in the field of science, education and other humanitarian spheres. - 06D-
