I. Aliyev receives participants of the religious summit
Baku/13.11.19/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received on Wednesday a delegation of representatives of the legislative bodies of Russia, headed by Ilyas Umahanov, vice speaker of the Federation Council.
The delegation also includes Chairman of the Committee on Regional Affairs of the Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Melikov, Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan Khizri Shikhsaidov and Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Dagestan Magomed Gurbanov.
The delegation arrived at the Second Baku Summit of Religious Leaders, which will be held on November 14-15.
On the same day, the head of state also received the first vice-speaker of the House of Representatives of Egypt, al-Saeed Mahmoud al-Sharif, the chair of the Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations of Iran Abuzar Ibrahim Turkman, and the heads of delegations of several other countries who arrived at the summit.
It should be noted that the summit is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the head of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Allahshukur Pashazade and the 40th anniversary of his activities in this post.
The summit will bring together delegations from 70 countries from five continents, leaders and representatives of 25 traditional religions and religious movements.
Among the participants in the summit are also leaders and religious leaders of a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The summit participants will discuss the fight against terrorism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and Christian phobia, protecting the rights of women and children, educating young people and interacting in these areas with government, scientific and public figures.
Following the meeting, the Baku Declaration will be adopted. Recall that the First Baku Summit of Religious Leaders took place in 2010. — 06D-

On January 31, the trial of opposition politician Tofig Yagublu continued at the Baku Serious Crimes Court, where the examination of documents resumed. Yagublu pointed out the falsification of the search protocols related to the search at his home. He drew attention to the fact that the protocol stated that on December 14, 2023, at 16:00, the investigator completed the questioning of the "victim" and decided to conduct a search.

Elvin Zeynalov, a religious activist living in the village of Mashtaga, was detained on January 31 around noon by individuals in plain clothes outside a store near his home. According to his relatives, later in the evening, Zeynalov was brought back home by people in black clothing, who conducted a search. They took Zeynalov's pants from the wardrobe, put marijuana in the pocket, then "seized" the drugs, filmed the video, and then took the activist away again.

During the winter session of PACE at the Palais de l'Europe in Strasbourg, a "parallel event" was held on January 30 dedicated to the "alarming human rights crisis in Azerbaijan."
