Interrogation of employees of "Radio Liberty" continues
On 30 December the interrogation of employees "Radio Liberty" in the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office continues. In particular, they questioned two more employees. Thus, the former coordinator of the Baku Office, Babak Bekir, was questioned for three hours. During the interrogation, he was accompanied by a legal representative Namizad Safarov. Today was questioned another officer, whose name is still unknown. On 26 December was conducted a search in the office of "Radio Liberty", where prosecutors seized equipment and documents, and the office was sealed. On December 27, about 30 employees of the editorial office were forcibly taken to the prosecutor's office for questioning.
It is still not clear what is the crime. However, it can be assumed that the investigators are looking for compromising material against the radio columnist, Khadija Ismailova, which had previously been arrested on trumped up charges. It is possible that the editor will be accused of tax evasion and other financial irregularities to eliminate Bureau of the radio in Baku.-03B-
