Nigar Hazi: Tofig Yagublu Threatened with Torture
Baku / 11.11.19 / Turan: Tofig Yagublu was demanded to resign from the National Council of Democratic Forces and completely cease his activities. Otherwise, he was threatened with cruel torture. This was stated to Turan by the politician's daughter Nigar Hazi.
According to her, Yagublu called her today from the administrative detention center.
“Father said that an employee came to him with the rank of officer of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and interrogated him for three hours.
Father was required to leave the National Council and put an end to political activity. Otherwise, Father was threatened with taking to the specified department and the use of sophisticated torture against him,” said Hazi.
She believes that Yagublu was also threatened with pressure on his family. “If something happens to my father, and in general to our family, then the political leadership of Azerbaijan will be responsible for this. All this pressure is aimed at forcing Tofig Yagublu to abandon the political struggle. They want to kill us, but we will not turn the way from the fight and continue it to the end,” said Hazi.
It was not possible to receive comments at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Tofig Yagublu was detained during a rally on October 19 and was administratively arrested for 30 days. He claimed torture over him at the Nasimi District Police Department. –06D-
