Yerevan and Baku close to unblocking railroad - Pashinyan
Baku/03.02.22/Turan: Armenia and Azerbaijan, with Russia's mediation, are very close to starting the construction and restoration of the railroad which provides for unblocking the region's communications. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a government meeting on Thursday.
"Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Russian Railways General Director Oleg Belozerov arrived in Yerevan yesterday on a working visit. They held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. I would like to emphasize that we are very close to fixing the first practical result of the trilateral working group on unblocking the communications. Yesterday's meeting was devoted to the beginning of the construction of Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Goradiz railway," he noted.
"The railroad will operate on the territory of our country in accord with the Armenian legislation. Technical issues, aspects of project financing and launching are discussed now", he continued.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan noted that the Russian Railways company will be the operator of the Armenian railroad. -02B-

In Azerbaijan, there is a need to adopt an Amnesty Act, said Siyavush Novruzov, the head of the parliamentary committee on regional issues, during a session of the Milli Majlis on February 3. He reminded that since independence, Azerbaijan has adopted 13 amnesty acts and over 70 pardoning decrees. "The parliament can once again put forward such an initiative and prepare an amnesty act by Independence Day (May 28)," Novruzov said.
