Launch of Twinning Project on Strengthening the metrology system in Azerbaijan
On 3 March 2016, The European Union (EU) and the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSMP) launched a Twining Project “Strengthening the metrology system in Azerbaijan “, reads a press release from the EU office to Azerbaijan.
The welcome speech was provided by the Chairman of the Standardisation, Metrology and Patent Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ramiz Hasanov, H.E German Ambassador Heidrun Tempel, Deputy Head of Mission of the Czech Republic Mr. Petr Vagner, a representative of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Dr. Olaf Heidelbach.
Project Leader - Vladimír Ludvík (Czech Republic) made a presentation of the project and answered questions.
Representatives of the Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan, several government agencies, other twinning projects, universities and media participated at the launch of project.
The Overall Objective of the Project is to support access by Azerbaijan to world markets through the development of a metrology system in line with EU and international best practices in standards, norms and processes in the field.
The Project Purpose is to build the capacity of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSMP) in the field of metrology to comply with the requirements of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The duration: 24 Months . The budget: 1.2 million Euros
The consortium of the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI) of Czech Republic as Leading partner and Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) of Germany as Junior Partner will provide the implementation assistance. -02D-

On February 4, the ECHR announced two rulings regarding complaints filed by these applicants, as reported by the legal information website aihmaz.org. The applicants contested the violation of their property rights during the demolition of their homes for the construction of the "Winter Park" in central Baku, as well as the failure to provide fair compensation. They also requested that the Strasbourg court recognize violations of their rights to a fair trial, respect for private life, effective legal remedies, the right to submit an individual complaint, and other related rights.
