Lawyer Was Not Allowed to Visit Gezal Bayramli and Afgan Mukhtarly
Baku / 05.06.17 / Turan: The lawyer Elchin Sadigov was not allowed to meet with the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party Gezal Bayramli and the journalist Afgan Mukhtarly in Baku Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 1 today.
As Sadigov told Turan IA, the deputy head of the detention center said it was impossible to meet with his clients, since the administration of the detention center "cannot find" an investigator in order to obtain his consent to the meeting.
The lawyer believes that such a far-fetched refusal is due to the fact that "unlawful actions" are taken against the arrested people.
It has not been possible to receive comments in the Penitentiary Service.
Bayramli was detained on May 25 at the entrance from Georgia to Azerbaijan on charges of smuggling (illegal transportation of 12 thousand US dollars).
Mukhtarly was abducted in Tbilisi on May 29 and transferred to Azerbaijan. The next day he was accused of illegally crossing the border, smuggling and using violence against a border guard. -16D-
