The Karabakh conflict has no military solution - NATO Secretary General
Brussels / 23.11.17 / Turan: Unresolved conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh causes concern, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday after a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Brussels. "Today we discussed regional security in the South Caucasus. Unresolved conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh causes us concern. Obviously, he does not have a military solution," Stoltenberg said.
According to him, NATO supports the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, formed to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "It is very important that the parties try to find a solution to the problem by agreeing among themselves, and also made efforts to avoid escalation of tension," he said.
In turn, Aliyev said that Armenia does not seek a settlement and is trying to maintain the status quo. Recalling the four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories, he said that the conflict can be resolved while respecting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. -02D-
