How to Protect Yourself from Dangerous Virus?
Baku / 24.01.20 / Turan: Security measures are being taken in Azerbaijan to prevent the emergence of patients with the corona virus (2019-nCoV), a new type of pneumonia, first detected in China.
Elvin Hajiyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, told Turan that no cases of the disease with a new corona virus were detected in Azerbaijan. As part of preventive measures, the Ministry of Health addressed the population with recommendations.
“Hands should be washed often, especially after contact with patients and their environment. Close contact with dead pets and wild animals should be avoided. Persons with symptoms of acute respiratory infections should distance themselves from other people when coughing, wear sanitary masks or cover their mouths with scarves,” said Hajiyev.
In addition, when traveling to countries where patients with a new corona virus have been identified, it is recommended that citizens avoid contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections.
Along with this, measures have been taken to prevent the penetration of the virus at customs checkpoints. At all points through which people arrive by road, rail, sea and air, thermal imagers are installed to measure body temperature at a distance. In addition, doctors are on duty at the points who examine people with symptoms of the disease, the press service of the State Customs Committee said.
"If people suspected of being infected with the virus are identified, they will be isolated and more thoroughly examined in special equipped places and, if necessary, hospitalized in the relevant medical facilities," the State Customs Committee said.
The chief infectious disease specialist of Azerbaijan, Jalal Isayev, does not exclude the risk of the spread of corona virus in Azerbaijan. For example, in his opinion, a citizen of the country traveling abroad for tourist and commercial purposes can be infected with a corona virus.
"People leaving for the PRC should especially observe precautions. They should stay away from people with symptoms of the common cold, preferably wearing masks. It is generally not advisable to travel to regions where the corona virus is widespread. It is important to take thermally processed food; if you feel unwell, contact doctors. The corona virus can cause serious consequences, even death," he told the Turan news agency.
At the end of December 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown etiology was recorded in China. By January 23, more than six hundred cases and 17 deaths from a new type of pneumonia caused by the 2019-nCoV corona virus were registered in several countries. The key symptoms of the disease are fever and cough. The risk of complications is especially high for the elderly, so the age of the deceased is from 48 to 89 years, reports TASS. —21C-
