Judicial investigation in the case of Asif Yusifli is over
Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Zeynal Agayev concluded the judicial investigation in the case of an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Asif Yusifli, a member of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, invalids of Karabakh. Yusifli was arrested on 25 November on charges of fraud (Article 178) and 320 (forgery) of the Criminal Code. Yusifli denies the charges and says his arrest politically motivated.
According to lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev, on July 9, at the trial the testimony made Rafig Huseynov, the convicted in another case of fraud, former employee of the Ministry of Education. The defendant confirmed that the entire amount of money from the victim Farida Zulfugarova he got for transferring his son to another university. Huseynov also noted innocence of Yusifli.
Then the court examined the documents. In particular, the characteristics of Yusifli. In addition, the Court examined the statement of the victim that Yusifli compensated her material damage and has no complaints. The Court also considered the opinion of expert handwriting analysis, that the signature on a student card issued by the son of the victim, does not belong Yusifli. According to the lawyer, the study of documents confirmed the innocence Yusifli. After that, it was announced about the completion of the judicial investigation. Now the court will hear concluding statements of the parties.

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies.
