However, his lawyer Osman Kazimov, who visited Aslanov on October 8, said that his client at that time continued his hunger strike, which began on October 5.
According to him, Aslanov said that he went on a hunger strike in protest against his unjustified criminal prosecution and the extension of his arrest for 4 months.
"I urged him to stop the hunger strike, but he is going to continue the action. Aslanov pleads not guilty. It seems to me that he became a victim of some publications," the lawyer said.
The editor of the site xeberman.com Polad Aslanov was detained on June 12, and the next day the court arrested him for 4 months. He is charged under the Article 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is conducted by the State Security Service. On October 5, the period of the arrest of the journalist was extended for another 4 months.
Local and international organizations condemned the criminal prosecution of Aslanov, believing that the real reason for the arrest of Aslanov is his journalistic activities. -21B06-
