Baku /23.10.19 / Turan: On October 23, a meeting of Foreign Ministers of countries of the Non-Aligned Movement opened in Baku. The chairmanship of the meeting was handed over by Venezuelan Foreign Minister George Arreaza to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
Azerbaijan will chair this structure in 2019-2022. Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan will carry out the necessary work to develop the organization, strengthen ties between member countries.
"Azerbaijan does not join military blocs, it advocates the development of democracy and the protection of human rights," Mammadyarov said.
The meeting of the Foreign Ministers is taking place on the eve of the XVIII Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement countries.
On October 25-26, the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement countries will be held in Baku. Representatives of 158 countries and international organizations confirmed their participation in the summit. The event will be attended by foreign ministers, heads of state and government and other senior representatives. -02D-
