Specific weight of food in formation of double-digit inflation exceeds 60% - Prime Minister
Baku/09.12.22/Turan: This year, the specific weight of food in the formation of double-digit inflation in Azerbaijan exceeded 60%. Prime Minister Ali Asadov said this at the plenary session held today.
According to him, the global inflationary environment and the factor of external costs are the main accelerating causes of inflation.
"Azerbaijan, integrated into the world economy, is facing inflationary pressure. The annual growth rate of import prices was 22%, and the average annual inflation in our country was double-digit - 13.8%," the Prime Minister said.
It is noteworthy that the words about the 60% share of food in the structure of inflation were interpreted by Parliamentary correspondents, without any doubt, as "a 60% growth in food prices in Azerbaijan." Independent economists and ordinary consumers believe that official data on the level of food inflation are deliberately underestimated. -08B-

Sources from two negotiation teams at COP29 reported to journalists on Tuesday, November 19, that the volume of the "New Collective Quantified Goal" (NCQG) for climate financing, being discussed this week in Baku, is unlikely to exceed USD 500 billion. This limitation is attributed to the negotiation stance of the U.S. delegation in light of the shift in power following the presidential elections in the United States.
