Baku/31.07.23/Turan: Today 12 more families (53 people in total) returned to the city of Lachyn for permanent residence. They havwe been placed in houses that have been restored or newly built for them. In total, 180 families (700 people) have already returned to the city of Lachyn.
* Lachyn region is a regional center of the same name were occupied by Armenian vyosks in May 1992. As a result of the Second Karabakh War in the fall of 2020, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces liberated Lachyn and all seven regions around Karabakh. ---03B06---

Economist Fazil Gasimov, who is on hunger strike for the 35th day, has been transferred to the medical and sanitary unit of the Baku pre-trial detention center-1, lawyer Rovshana Rahimova told Turan on the afternoon of July 19.

The Tbilisi-based Institute for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms issued a statement in connection with the ban to Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel.tv on travel from Georgia to third countries to the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel.tv. The statement of the organization, established in 2018 by a group of Azerbaijani political emigrants, notes that Sadigov moved to Georgia in connection with the repression in Azerbaijan against human rights defenders, journalists and opposition activists.

The preliminary investigation against economist Fazil Gasymov, who has been on a hunger strike for 35 days in the pre-trial detention centre, has been completed. At present, Gasymov and his lawyers are familiarising themselves with the seven-volume criminal case, his defender Rovshana Rahimova told Turan.
