Azerbaijani Justice Ministry liquidated 13 political parties
Baku/17.08.23/Turan: In August this year the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan decided to liquidate 13 political parties. All these parties applied to the Ministry with a statement on termination of their activities.
It is worth reminding that after Azerbaijan gained independence (18 October 1991), 66 political parties were registered in the country.
In 1993, two of these parties were dissolved by court decision.
In 2021, 6 parties announced that they were joining the ruling Party "Yeni Azerbaijan" and the number of registered parties totalled 58.
After the adoption of the new Law on Political Parties, 31 of these 58 parties applied to the Ministry of Justice for their liquidation.
The remaining 27 political parties applied for re-registration. Of these, only the ruling Party "Yeni Azerbaijan" passed state registration. The documents of others were returned for correction due to errors and inaccuracies.
In August, the Ministry of Justice liquidated the following political parties: "Gorgud" (chairman Firudin Karimov); "National Unity Party" (chairman Hajibaba Azimov), "People's Democratic Party" (chairman Galandar Mukhtarli), "Independent People's Party" (chairman Aflan Ibragimov), "New Way Party" (chairman Ramil Huseynov), "National Cohesion Party" (chairman Yunus Oguz), "National Statehood Party" (chairman Nemat Panahly), "Social Democratic Party" (chairman Araz Alizadeh), "Liberal Democratic Party" (chairman Fuad Aliyev), "Social Welfare Party" (chairman Asli Kazimova), "Azerbaijan Development Party" (chairman Teyub Ganioglu), "Unity Party" (chairman Khudadat Khudiyev), "Alliance for the Name of Azerbaijan Party" (chairman Abutalib Samedov). -03-
