Azerbaijani President Receives Delegation of EU Committee
Baku / 04.10.17 / Turan: Perspectives of Azerbaijan"s cooperation with the European Union were discussed today in Baku at the meeting of President Ilham Aliyev with the delegation of the Committee for Politics and Security of the Council of the EU, which includes the ambassadors of EU countries accredited in Brussels, the website of the head of state reports.
The President of Azerbaijan, referring to the Karabakh conflict, made emphasis on the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia. In these territories, the policy of ethnic cleansing was carried out and the Khojaly genocide was committed.
Aliyev also noted the high level of Azerbaijan"s cooperation with the EU member states and the development of economic cooperation. He stressed the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of Europe.
The head of state noted that Azerbaijan implements large-scale energy and transport projects and plays an important role in the implementation of the East-West and North-South transport corridor projects, becoming an international transport hub.
He also spoke about Azerbaijan"s active role in the fight against international terrorism.
The President of Azerbaijan stressed that multiculturalism and secular values are preserved in the country, and democracy and all freedoms are ensured.
Further spoke the Chairman of the Committee for Policy and Security of the Council of the European Union Walter Stevens and the EU Ambassadors from France, Bulgaria and Germany accredited in Brussels. -06D--
