Criminal Case Launched against Leader of Karabakh Separatists
Baku / 04.10.20 / Turan: The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case against the head of the Karabakh separatists Arayik Harutyunyan. This is stated in the statement of the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev.
He is charged with issuing the order for a rocket attack on the city of Ganja, which resulted in civilian casualties.
Thus, Harutyunyan, in violation of the requirements of the Geneva Convention, committed actions aimed at deliberately killing civilians, creating panic among people, and other illegal actions.
The criminal case has been initiated against Harutyunyan under Articles 100.1, 100.2 (planning, preparing, unleashing or waging an aggressive war), 116.0.1, 116.0.6, 116.0.7, 116.0.8-1 (violation of international humanitarian law during armed conflicts ), 117.2 (issuing criminal orders during an armed conflict), 120.2.1, 120.2.4, 120.2.12 (premeditated murder), 186.3 (intentional destruction or damage to property), 214.2.1, 214.2.3 (terrorism), 218.3 (organization of a criminal community (criminal organization), 279.3 (creation of armed formations or groups not provided for by law).
The investigation was entrusted to the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan will appeal to international structures to ensure that Harutyunyan and other leaders of the illegal regime are extradited to justice for committing crimes, including war crimes against civilians and humanity.
Harutyunyan himself admitted that he personally gave the order to fire rockets at Ganja.
During the shelling of Ganja, 1 person was killed and 32 more were wounded. Among the wounded is an ethnic Armenian, born in 1943 Karina Grigoryan.
In total, after the outbreak of hostilities on September 27, 24 civilians of Azerbaijan were killed, and another 111 were injured. —06D-
